Head camera advice

Guys what the best head cam for filming, I've not really looked into this much, but do most of you use go pro, or are there better ones out there.
It would be nice to have some kind of steady ability, I know on a MTB it will be hard to level it out, but some kind would help
Thanks

Have a look at Sony HDR-AS15, accessories not as good as the Gopro but picture is as good as any on the market at the moment and it’s almost half the price at £185 at Amazon, 4x slomo and image steady shot, very please with my and don’t let the masses tell you it’s only Gopro.Specialized-The clitoris of bikes.0

The OP asked for the best and the GoPro Hero 3 Black Edition is the best
Part of that might be due to the vast amount accessories available and the huge community of users but if you're into video (and stills) photography, there is nothing better at the moment.
4X Slow Mo - guess that means 120fps @ 720p ? Which is the same as the GoPro plus you get the ability to shoot at 4K @ 15fps which means you basically can capture 12 Megapixel stills at 15 shots a second...pretty f.ing awesome!

Thanks guys I'm in agreement also
I've just seen a post on the cams, and a test and it does seem that the hero and Sony look the best.
The Sony is priced nicely, and as you all said the hero is the one, if budgets allow
Appreciate the reply, now all I gotta do is wait for my new bike, then I,ll go do some of the new trail parks0 -
Perhaps you might want to wait for the new Garmin action cameras. They incorporate GPS data into all your videos. Having said that, I use a Gopro Hero 2 and it's all you'll ever need and more. You can't really go wrong with one. Other options are Contour cameras and drifts. There's always this if you're on a budget : http://www.merlincycles.com/bike-shop/a ... amera.html . It has more features than the Gopros but alot cheaper (although they don't produce the same standard of footage). The bottom line is, what ever you choose, in 9/10 situations it will be perfectly good. If you buy a Gopro Hero 3, there are 3 different models, the white is a re-bodied hero 1 (with wifi) , the silver is a re-bodied hero 2 (with wifi) and the black is basically the brand new one. Hope that helps0

what I'm after is a cheap helmet cam with GPS for a project. Only needs to take low-res stills for upload to net. If anyone knows of something that fits the bill, let me know.

I asked about an iphone because there are a few mounting options. Us android users are scuppered :x I've got the Mrs to get me a Rollei Youngstar from 7dayshop while they're under £30, I've got to wait for my birthday to have it though Tried it out in the house when it came though, miles better than my old Muvi clone.Saracen Tenet 3 - 2015 - Dead - Replaced with a Hack Frame

Sensors on phones are crap - especially when going from dark to light, looking into the sun, low light conditions etc. Plus rain, mud, dirt, rocks all don't play nice with phones. Dedicated head cam required"Why have that extra tooth if you're not using it?" - Brian Lopes

i dont know of a cheap gps action camera. but i would go with one of these cameas
808#16 720p camera £30 http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Mini-DVR-808- ... 2a20b389dc
helmet mount £8 http://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_odkw= ... t&_sacat=0
or for full hd (also can be used has a car DVR camera)
mobius camera 1080p £45 http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Mobius-Action ... 232c961f6a
helmet mount £5 http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Bick-Bicycle- ... 2a2ecd44cd
both do video and time lapse photos and have a configuation program (pc or andriod) to change many setting
then you can record the gps data on your phone and sync photos with the gps data
