Reattaching Gossamer Crank Arm

Hi all, have a BB30 bike, putting it away for the winter now. Took it apart to clean out all the crap that's accumulated inside the BB this morning. All went well, apart from whatever reason I cannot seem to reattach the left hand crank arm. I haven't taken anything like this apart before, it's self extracting and a 10mm hex bolt tightens it up. It doesn't seem to line up or 'lock in' if that makes sense and just won't tighten.

It's been doing my head in all morning, anyone have any experience of these gossamers, am I doing something completely spazzed?

    Try knocking the crank spindle through from the drive side.
    Smarter than the average bear.
