No pressure reading on fox rp2

I'm used to using the pressure pump on my forks but recently attached my pump to the shock to find that it didn't read any pressure at all. Any ideas welcomed. Pete

    If the suspension hasn't collapsed then the shock has pressure in it......
    Currently riding a Whyte T130C, X0 drivetrain, Magura Trail brakes converted to mixed wheel size (homebuilt wheels) with 140mm Fox 34 Rhythm and RP23 suspension. 12.2Kg.
