None of the bikes at that price point are going to be competative in competition.

Kraken is a bit lighter than the Hoodoo and more XC biased, Hoodoo has a better fork. Vulcan is nowhere near as ood as either, the Voodoo Bantu is a better budget option.
Currently riding a Whyte T130C, X0 drivetrain, Magura Trail brakes converted to mixed wheel size (homebuilt wheels) with 140mm Fox 34 Rhythm and RP23 suspension. 12.2Kg.

  • Either will be fine. They are low spec but if you are fit enough you will be faster than someone less fit on a high spec bike.
    Both are worth upgrading when you can afford it

    That or get a decent used bike and use the Halfords vouchers to buy any parts or upgrades you need!
