None of the bikes at that price point are going to be competative in competition.
Kraken is a bit lighter than the Hoodoo and more XC biased, Hoodoo has a better fork. Vulcan is nowhere near as ood as either, the Voodoo Bantu is a better budget option.

Either will be fine. They are low spec but if you are fit enough you will be faster than someone less fit on a high spec bike.
