Most likely a horse fly . Seriously though keep a close eye on it as they can lead to cellulitis ( nasty skin infection that could need antibiotics ) . Had 3 bites from horsely that took ages to clear and scars to prove it .

don't think its a horsefly as the bite is not actually sore - only some stiffness in my ankle from the swelling.

Don't need to go to a doctor as all they would give me is hydrocortisone cream and an antihistamine which I already have. and why MTFU, I'm not complaining about it :?

from the blister it looks as if you have brushed against Hogweed, the sap reacts with sunlight to cause blistering.
