Rear Derailleur Fatal Failure
Riding home tonight my chain starting jumping every few pedal turns. As I was about 10 minutes from home I decided to pedal easily / freewheel and look at it at home. Sadly, there was a loud clunk and the rear wheel suddenly locked. The part of the derailleur with the jockey wheels had completely snapped and the main body was looped round on top of my rear cassette.
I'm quite happy to replace the rear derailleur, but the problem is that the part of the frame (my bike is a Specialised Roubaix Comp) it is attached to has bent quite significantly. From what I can tell this is a detachable part, but certainly not something I've ever seen for sale anywhere. Is it something I should be able to find, or would I be better to just take it to the local bike shop?

Sounds like the mech hanger. It's designed to be weak and bend in exactly this sort of situation to save damaging the frame.
You can get them on the internet, or see if your LBS has one. There are loads of different types and are usually specific to the model of the frame.0 -
OK, cool - thanks. I'll pop into one of the shops near work tomorrow and see what they can do. The worst thing was checking the price of a replacement Shimano Ultegra rear derailleur - almost made me weep!0

Dry your tears and buy a Tiagra rear mech instead. It'll work just the same.0

Try the BETD site if you don't want to buy one through your LBS.
