Bent Rim
Hi all, im looking for some advice regarding a damaged front wheel.
Last week for reasons that are still unknown to me, I went over the handlebars of my bike. Once i had removed my face from the road and untangled my self from the bike, it was obvious that front wheel was completely buckled and that one of the spokes was missing. The wheel in question is a Kinesis CX Disc. Kinesis only sell the wheels in pairs, and the rim is made specifically for that wheel by WTB, who don't sell the rim themselves. So I am wondering if someone would know of a suitable (preferably at least as light, and disc specific) rim that i could get my LBS to use to rebuild the wheel. or should i give up and start saving for a new wheel.

My Face has street crud in it, if thats what you mean.
In all seriousness my face is mostly fine. One leg, fore arms and wrists took the brunt of the impact. I will try and post a pic of the wheel but never done it before so not entirely sure how.0 -

It looks bent beyond repair... you need a new rim... hard to say from here but an H plus Son Archetype might fit the existing spokes and it would look similarleft the forum March 20230

Sorry its taken so long to reply. Thanks for the suggestion, I have looked at the Archetype rim. It looks nice, comes in black 28 hole configuration so all good so far, but does it matter that it is not disc specific?
I was wondering if, after paying for a new rim, trying to find the right spoke and having it rebuilt at the shop, i might just be better getting something like this

I"m guessing this would fit ok although i don't know if 15mm axle is ok. I'm guessing it would be fine with a 700x28 tyre.
What do you think?0 -

No it doesn't matter and archetype will take any tyre... road or knobbly CX tyres... with 29er rims you never know what goes up and what doesn't... compatibility with 700 C road tyres is very patchyleft the forum March 20230 -
Ok Cool, Archetype it is. What about getting a replacement spoke, to Quote the Kinesis website the spoke is described as "Triple-butted Stainless Steel, with Grey anodised alloy nipples" can a replacement one of these be easily obtained (i wont get one from Kinesis) and will they fit the Archetype rim or will i need all new spokes?0

I am guessing an Archetype will fit with your spokes, but I might be wrong.... can you measure the total height (profile) of the rim? Or alternatively, can you unscrew one spoke, get it out and measure the length from the thread to the J bend?left the forum March 20230 -
I'll order the rim tomorrow, take it all to my LBS and see what they say. If i have to buy new spokes so be it, i think the hub that came with the kinesis wheel is pretty good, it spins forever with the bike inverted. So at the end of it i should have a reasonably decent wheel
Thanks for your help with this it really is appreciated, i was struggling to know which way to go0
