Exposure Diablo mk4 - Fault ?

Used my Exposure Diablo mk4 for the first time last night, for a 30 minute test ride. Cycled around country lanes, during which time I didn't encounter a single car so allowed me to try the light on full power.

I showed the light to a colleague this morning and they noticed what appears to be a crack in the lens and a stress fracture on the other side - as if it's above the mounting holes for the LED emitters. Anyone else suffer this problem?

The light has never been dropped, it's only been used for 30 minutes, and was mounted using the supplied helmet mount. Is this likely to be a faulty unit, or are these lenses really fragile?

I've had my lezyne lights pop out of their mounts a few times at over 30 mph and survive without issue.

  • You definitely have a faulty light.

I've had my Toro for two years. Exposure have a no-questions 2 year warranty on all their products. Drop them an email, send it back recorded post with a copy of the receipt and 99.9% sure, it looks like it'll be a straightforward replacement. They're great to deal with, you'll have no problem - I had an issue with not getting full charge so they tested it fully and sent it back with a new charger as the old was faulty.

Are they tough? Yes, sir! My Toro came off its mount (to which I had not attached it properly as my Garmin was too close to it) on a 30mph+ downhill and went bouncing down the pitch dark road like some sort of crazy lighthouse. Still switched on, I clipped it on and off I went. That was over a year ago and it's never missed a beat since although it does have a few missing chunks that the road took out of the aluminium casing.
  • Thanks for the reply. Good to hear that they are good to deal when needed. My Lezyne super-drive has taken a tumble a few times and survived with only minor marks to the aluminium casing, and it's good to hear that the Exposure lights seem to be similarly robust. Unfortunately the retailer I purchased from no longer have the Diablo mk4 in stock, so it'll either be going back to Exposure for repair or a full refund.

I have the same light and have had no issues, so it looks like it's a little faulty.

Contact Exposure. The reason I was happy to cough up for one was the fantastic service my brother got when he damaged his. They are great guys.

I've contacted the retailer in the first instance as I only purchased it about 3-4weeks ago. If I get no joy there then I'll contact Exposure directly.
