Removing & measuring headset

Hi,

I've bought some new forks already, I need to measure my headset to work out what I'll need to order for the bike.
Two issues, first being I can't remove the current headset. Might just not be pulling hard enough?

Second issue is what do I measure, inside diameter of the tube?

Thanks.

Semi integrated according to your link. 1 1/8" presumably.
But without knowing what the forks are...

    Think I'm fine thanks.

Anyway, watched some videos now, appears to involve a plastic mallet. More force needed.

Yup, semi-integrated, the forks are 1 & 1/8th, just wanted to check the external size needed for the headset.
    Thanks, think I'm sorted now.

  • If you use a small flat headed screwdriver to open up (put it in the gap at the top of the photo and twist) the plastic ring, you should be able to slide that off. After that the fork should slide out easily.

I don't know about which bit to measure though!

Think I'm going to be able to re-use the current headset as current forks are 1 & 1/8th anyway and condition looks okay.
