Upgrading Acera M330 Etype front mech :edited to make sense.

I'm changing my gearing to an XT / SLX 3 x 10 system and would like to swap out an old part.
I have Acera M330 front mech. It says it's an etype and my BB is listed as 68 x 113mm which seems to back this up - as per the description here http://www.evanscycles.com/products/tru ... 2#features (similar to my existing)
Can I change the mech for a normal clamp type, do I need to change the BB size to allow this, or do I need to replace like for like?

My bike is here, if that helps http://www.specialized.co.uk/gb/gb/bike ... disc#specs

Thanks

Sometimes you can replace an e-type mech for a clamp-on, but sometimes there's something about the frame that means you can't (funny angles, awkwardly placed bottle cage bolts, etc, etc). If you want, I have an e-type XT 3x10 in excellent condition you can have for £15 posted. pm me if you're interested and I'll sort out a picture for you.

I had 3 of the 2007 models in different sizes.

There are no problems fitting band-on clamp FDs.

    The FD needs to be:

    - Top swing (low clamp)
    - Bottom pull (or dual pull)
    - 31.8mm clamp diameter

To account for the 2mm thickness of the e-type mounting plate, just add a 2mm spacer if required.
  • Brilliant, thank you both for your help and time. :D
