Which front mech?

So after some idiot maintenance on my part I trashed the front mech when shifting into the top ring under load.
Managed to bend it back enough to continue the ride with only the middle ring
I need a new mech, don't wanna spend a stupid amount but might aswell start the upgrade path.
Its got this fitted http://cycle.shimano-eu.com/publish/con ... ntain.html
In short its a 9spd with 'mega 9' logos on the mech and its a top swing top cable entry etc.
Can a 10speed triple fit/work with the alvio sl shifter?
Is it worth picking up a year or two old xt one from the usual suspects.

Front mechs are not that expensive - you can pick up a brand new Deore/SLX offering for about £15 or less from the right place (and the XT ones are only £25)...

If you want one for less I'd start trawling flea-bay for something.Lapierre Spicy 516 XTR custom (2013) -http://www.bikeradar.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=10017&t=129323320 -
Will a 3*10 front mech work with a 3*9 setup?0
