Father will be dropping me off and picking me up next week for Pedal for Scotland and I'd like to provide navigation to make it easy for him. Ideally I'd like to provide navigation from the drop off point to home and then home to pick up in Edinburgh.

Does anyone know if there is any free tablet navigation software that allows several routes to be saved and made available offline.

    Try this
    https://play.google.com/store/apps/deta ... .ALL&hl=en
Can be used as long as you're getting a GPS signal, no need for a data connection. Don't know about saved routes/destinations, but I would think that's pretty much standard on navigation stuff
    And it's free

You can use Google Maps but you have to enable caching and make the cache big.
I used to just ride my bike to work but now I find myself going out looking for bigger and bigger hills.

Google maps aren't letting me customise the route and it's not taking me a more complex route than it needs to :(

Free and more social http://www.waze.com/ but not offline

Do the route on a PC using Google maps (this is easier because you can alter the route by grabbing the line and moving it to create waypoints), save the route to "my maps" at the bottom of the LH pane, then access that route via the tablet.

Make the route on the PC and use Chrome-to-phone to send it across.
