I'm worried my shock may be damaged(rock shox monarch 3.1),
and close to bottoming out when I so much as jump off a small curb,
as the o ring moves down to about half the travel, and the back wheel hits
the curb with a thud rather than a clean rebound.
the shock unit is also making a wheezing noise when it compresses.
the sag is set to 20% sag,180pound-psi..

  • this is also with the dampener turned fully clockwise, but the forks locked out..
  • if its only going 1/2 way dow the shaft then its not bottoming out, and some wheezing is normal as it will be air/oil moving around in the damper.

so is the shock toping out?
Or is it making a noise after being compressed?
Does it happen when you're off the bike and activating the suspension just using your weight?
  • there has been a 'knock' after the shock compresses, which has been an ongoing problem..
doesnt happen when i'm off the bike and put a lot of pressure on the seat.
not sure what u mean by topping out
  • obviously the opposite to bottoming out!
