What width tires for trails?

I'm not sure what width Tires would be best for trails, I Want some which would be quick and grippy (as everyone does). I'd mainly do red trails but I would do blue and black aswell. I'm thinking of getting a tire in the range of 2.1 and 2.35 on the front and I don't think the rear matters (1.95), or does it? which width would be most suitable?
thanks
thanks

the compound and tread are more important than the size to be honest
although I'd say 2 - 2.35 is fine for trails
Check out the Continental rubber queen black chilli compound tyres - very highly rated round here
and they're 2.20 -
Width varies between brands. For example a 2.35 schwalbe is bigger than a 2.5 maxxis.Transition Patrol - viewtopic.php?f=10017&t=130702350

Thanks, I knew it varied a bit but not that much0

I don't really want to spend over £15, has anyone noticed major difference between low and high price tires? if so what sort?0 -
Like I said, if you want grip and fast rolling get continental trail queen black chilli 26 x 2.2...0

I use a 2.25 maxxis advantage on the front and 2.1 advantage rear, works pretty well for me0

There too expensive, Which would be better out of the tires i've listed (even if none of them are fast and grippy), which ones would be the fastest and grippiest for £15 or less0

For £15 I'd get these in Trail Extreme.

Yeah rubbish site for searching. The more expensive SC are better, but not more than twice the price better.
I do put my money where my mouth is.

Just got some tyres from http://www.bike-discount.de/shop/k371/m ... tml#100348
They were a lot cheaper than anyone I could find in the UK including nextday tyres.

On-One sell the Geax Saguaro - which is a decent rear tyre (I prefer something a little chunkier for front duties).
I use it on the rear and and it rolls well enough and grips well - got the black/anthracite one for £15 - so if they still do them for that price it's a great choice. For a folding TNT (tubes or no-tubes) bead/carcass
