Worn bearing seat
My 3 year old Cube Agree Alloy frame has developed a rather nasty noise when making out the saddle hard efforts. After doing all the usual fixes to no avail, I have concluded that the lower headstock bearing seat in the headtube is worn and allowing the lower race to move under load. This is evidenced by the wear marks inside the frame.
I wanted to sound out opinions on repair/management. My first thought is to try metal filler as its cheap and reversable. Second idea is to get the 45 degree chamfer skimmed in a machine shop. Anyone got a better idea?

I had this on a mate's bike recently and I came to the conclusion - after much messing about - that the only way to solve it was a new bearing seat, pressed into the old, worn one. None of the usual fixes worked.
I'm not sure where you get hold of a new bearing seat though... If you had a lathe you could perhaps machine one out of a (traditional) headset cup but it could be a fiddly job to get right....?Facts are meaningless, you can use facts to prove anything that's remotely true! - Homer0 -
There does not appear to be a pressed in seat, just a 45 degree taper in the headtube. Possibly a shim of plumbers tape under the low spots might work but I suspect this would only last a short while?0

Dealer thinks a warranty claim may be successful! The Headtube is stretched.0
