What would members consider the best bike for around £800 max. Ideally want at least carbon forks, full carbon would be amazing but think it would be a little more.

thanks

The best bargain is the one that fits best and makes you want to ride it. There are a lot of bikes in that bracket with a huge difference with geometry, material and componentry. Whilst there are loads of good deals at the moment some people may struggle as a lot of the time the bikes left are huge or diddy.

For that money you can certainly get a carbon fork and probably Tiagra.

canyon. Mail order though so not necessarily what you want to do if it's your first bike.

I think you can get full 105 with aksiums and the aforementioned carbon fork for approx £815
  • Can you stretch it to £999? only this is a real bargain. Fully carbon and full Ultergra.

I got a 2013 Trek 1.5 in the sales for £700 with some replacement pedals thrown in. It is good for me as it is a 10 speed Tiagra compact and has mountings for mudguards for winter riding when I need them. Also it has a carbon fork.

As above it is important to test ride bikes as a cheaper bike you don't like riding is useless and don't like the look of is a waste of money. Most bikes are fairly similar so have a look in the sales and choose the best bike for you.
