Vitus Zircon - which one?

The "1" is now £749 (RRP £999), the 29VR now £699 (RRP £899). Main difference is the fork (I think) - Rock Shox Recon Gold vs Silver.
Quite like the idea of the 29er as most of my riding is Canal path and single trails (with no drops etc.) ... but if fork difference is worth it I'd go with the Zircon 1.
So ... thoughts on bike comparison & whether these bikes are good value - they look it to me esp. with the discounts).
