Ouch. I'm no expert but I wouldn't want to ride that again even if it had been repaired!

    Road - Dolan Preffisio
    MTB - On-One Inbred

I have no idea what's going on here.

It's hardly a simple break, it looks totalled to me. When I got knocked off the insurance assessor wrote off anything carbon however small the mark, he flatly refused to guarantee anything carbon after a crash.

Yes it can be repaired, if you look at the examples on Calfee's website you'll see far worse. However, it will be expensive, particularly if you factor in a respray - I'd estimate £400, so depends on the cost of a replacement frame.
Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..

I would have no confidence riding that after it had been repaired. What universe do insurance companies live in.

    Precisely...
However, just received a message from Wheelies, saying they are replacing the bike and they will call tomorrow.
So it looks like I'm getting a new bike!

Now I'm concerned that I'll be offered a £500 Allez or something, I know what the bike is worth in component form; the frame alone is £2100rrp, so anyone been through this and can shed some light?
  • Wheelies sorted my claim. They were really good and pretty quick. They will try and flogg you and upgrade at 20% off the difference between your frame and theirs. After some wrangling, they waved that as they were unable to provide like for like (cervelo)

Thanks, I don't mind an upgrade tbh, as long as its worth it. They certainly can't provided like for like. Do they collect your old bike when the new is delivered? How is the value agreed?

    cheers

Probably the universe that is aware that you can fix pretty much any damage to a carbon frame with no loss of strength at all - but it might cost too much. Eg see Monty Dogs ref to Calfee.

The OP seems to agree so that's all that counts IMHO.
