Hi, I am hopefully going to pick my new defy 2 up next week (cannot wait as its my first road bike :D ) does anyone have any experience with giant tires, do they suffer from a lot of punctures ?

Thanks

I've had a Giant Defy 3 comp since last October with stock tyres, and the only two punctures I've had in 3500 miles are two pinch flats, one of which was my damn fool fault for having the tyres too soft.
    Is the gorilla tired yet?

I picked up a used Defy 2 last November.

It came with Kenda something or others which I think were the original tyres.

They seemed fine but were showing their age so I replaced with Vitorria Rubino Pro's in 700x x 25 size which I have been very happy with on what is my first road bike.

I would give the original tyres a good try and see how you get on before spending cash on what could be an unnecessary upgrade.
  • Thanks for both your replies, I think I will give them a try first and see how I get on, if they are bad I will get a set of gator skins I think.

I've had a Defy Comp for almost a year. I had one puncture after hitting a pothole, apart from that no real problems, but they don't seem to have a long life. It probably doesn't help being a heavyweight. I replaced mine with GP4 seasons and noticed an immediate increase in speed.

I have a new Defy4, unfortunately I had 3 punctures in a week, maybe just bad luck, I replaced them with Gatorskins and touchwood nothing since in around 800 miles.
