Ignore the wheel thing. 26" will be around for the next 10 years for spare wheels, forks and tyres. There are too many in use for manufacturers to just drop it.
Half an inch on the wheel radius makes feck all difference, its all just marketing. Every year its something new, tapered steerers, press fit bottom brackets, 9 speed, 10 speed, 11 speed.
Just remember, this years hot sh1t is next years steaming turd.
