My Planet X Model B rims are worn out, but the hubs are still in a good way so I'm trying to source some replacement rims. I'm pretty sure they're Kinlin XR270 so does anyone know where I can buy these in the UK? Preferably at a non-inflated price. ERD is 587mm - are there any equivalent rims available in 20h/24h drillings?

Thanks.

When I tried to do this I had no luck. The Kinlin dealers I talked to (DCR Hunt springs to mind) seemed to suggest that it is no longer made.

Since I kind of wanted an eyeletted rim I ended up building the hubs into IRD rims with new DT Revolution spokes. I think they are rebadged Kinlin XR300s. According to my book they have a ERD of ~602.

The ones you mean are Interloc Aero Cadence and indeed rebadged Kinlin... ERD is 577

For the OP, how about the Kinlin TB 25 tubulars? Those are 587 and cheap and nice and available at http://www.sdeals.com in 20/24

Don't really fancy tubs for commuting. I see that Sdeals have XR270, but not listed in 20/24h so I might email him and see if he can get 20/24h. I've actually found a seller from Taiwan on eBay who's selling XR270 for £20. I might take a punt once he gets back to me about postage provided it's not stupidly expensive.

A nice rim for commuting is the Ambrosio FCS 28... ERD is 590, close enough, also you need 14-16 mm nipples, so works well with your spokes. It is an ox of a rim and builds very well, here is an example in higher count

Problem is the only way to get them as 20/24 is to order them from Italy at all4cycling, delivery not cheap. Worth it if you need something else that adds up to 200 euro and get free delivery.

Finally, Archetype is 592, so with 14/16 mm nipples you might be OK... ready available at 20/24

I can get the eBay ones for about £30 each including postage so I think I'm sorted.

Just built a set of Archetypes and they are lovely rims, but almost twice the cost of the XR270. I'd probably not want to commute on them though so I'd end up needing another set of cheap wheels...

Halo rims are Kinlin - duuno about specific model though.
