I'd like to replace my Sora 2013 brake pads with Koolstop Salmons. Question - does anyone know if the Sora 2013 brake cartridges will accept the Koolstop?

I'd be surprised if Sora brakes had cartridge pads.. I think the standard pads are a 'one-piece' item.

Replace the original pads with a decent set of cartridge pads (you'll need to buy a set with the metal holders to begin with) and you will notice a big improvement in braking control.
  • I'll look closely today as i think they have a small grub screw - if not, I've ordered the pads and can pick up some metal holders from LBS

  • Update.

Sora 2013 pads are cartridge-type and accept Koolstop salmons nicely.

Replaced while fitting Gatorskins - wheels off, pads out without removing holders, new pads in, wheel on and small adjustment using barrel adjuster.

Gatorskins were tight to fit but look good.

    Happy days!

My apologies, that's the last time I look at the pictures on the shimano website!

No sweat, you are right (in my case) as my Sora brakes (2015) ARE a one piece and yes, they are dreadful. No have a carbon 105 but will be using the Sora bike as a winter bike so need to change those horrid brakes. Some say you can get Swiss-stop cartridges with the metal holder to fit. Now searching.
