Ultegra 6700 front shifter stuck

Hi all

Another week, another question! Took my cube agree out earlier and realised after a mile or so the front shifter had jammed. I've taken everything apart - new cable, thorough clean and re grease. Outers are fine too.
If I release the cable from the front mech and tension the cable by hand, it will shift up and down perfectly, but as soon as I reattach to the front mech it will shift up to the big ring but not back down. Anyone got any thoughts?

Actually scrub that! Now it has completely jammed - shifted up and wont release at all....

Have a read through this thread - it relates to a triple front shifter(6703) but there may be clues for you to investigate on your problem. Seems that a small retaining nut that holds the mechanism in place can work loose causing it to jam up.

    Thanks for that.
On closer inspection there's a bent spring over the ratchet pawl. The whole internal barrel also seems a bit loose. Are these parts replaceable or does anyone know if these can be serviced?

You can't get parts for Shimano levers and Shimano don't regard them as being serviceable. I managed to fix a damaged one once but it was no fun, there are a few vids on youtube that help. If you can't fix it try ebay for a used one.
