When I started I rushed out and bought a propero 2, while it looks a nice helmet its actually massive on my head as in I get mushroom head.
So was thinking of a new one that is a bit narrower once on. Any recommendations? ? Budget would be about £50 and im large.

My advice is to go to the bike shop and try them on for comfort. Surely that's more important than looks ?

As I wanted a reasonable helmet that wasn't a mushroom head. That isn't me in the pic though

Cougie appreciate what you are saying and it does actually fit well and is comfortable, forget that its on. But it just makes me look like a frickin mushroom head.
Kask look quite nice, as do s works but way out of price range.

I tried a load on - it's the only way to avoid mushroom.

Tried loads the the Kask Mojito fitted best and I love it.

Also purchased a S-Works Prevail which isn't bad but nowhere near as comfortable as the Kask.

    Seeing as you have both;

I have the Sworks Prevail too, and find it super comfy, and it's very light, but it doesn't still well on my head and has a high front.

I much prefer the look of the Mojito, but the only thing putting me off is the extra weight.

    How do you find it?

The difference is not enormous for sure, but you feel it when it's on your head and your head's moving around quite a bit.

Maybe I'll just buy a Mojito and see how it goes....

Limar Ultralight Pro 104. Picked one up for £60, non-mushroomy even on my narrow head and claims to be the world's lightest helmet (if weight is an issue).

Ahh the giant helmet syndrome, I know it well as I am using a cheapie from Argos atm & every time I have some spare cash, She who must be obeyed finds a more justified reason to spend it.

Was thinking of the Carrera Razor but will need to find somewhere that has a decent selection of helmets to try on.

I have the same Properro 2 helmet. Are you sure you have the right size? I say this because I think it is available in small, medium and large, whereas many helmets are only small and large. I have the medium size and it says 54-60cm.

Las squalo is quite a compact helmet.

Good time to buy a few from wiggle in the sales, try on and send back. Otherwise get to the shops and try some on.

Ummmm, I'm on the hunt as well. Trying to decide between a k50, mojito, Rudy sterling or a giro atmos. Managed to try a few on apart from the Rudy.

Any Rudy sterling users out there? What's it like reviews look ok........

AsH- the K50 is pretty comfortable, chain reaction are the best price I can find through amazon for about £76 quid delivered if you don't have a LBS.
  • another one here for the limar ultralight looks a smug fit even on my peanut head and very light.
