avid elixir 5 brake sticking.

Ive always had trouble with my rear brake since buying my bike(avid elixir 5)
pads/pistons rubbing on rotor, but since having it bled(for the umpteenth time in 2 yrs),
and new pads fitting,it seems worse than ever as the wheel just stops dead the friction is that bad.
Is it just a matter of bedding in or something more complex?

Bleeding, even umpteen times, won't solve any problems except to remove air from the system.I don't do smileys.

Could be a stuck piston, were the pistons hard to retract when you fitted the new pads? Did the disc fit in ok afterwards?0
-
Are you sure you have the caliper lined up correctly and were the piston pushed right back when the pads were changed?0
-
wasn't actually me who did it,but 1 of the pistons had actually popped out previously,
and yes the disc is hard to get bk in..will try to adjust the caliper but it seems to be pretty central.0 -
Sounds like a combination of sticky piston plus overfilling with fluid. You could try opening the bleed screw "very" slightly to let some fluid out.
Who did the bleeding for you? If its an LBS and your brakes are so problematic how the hell did they let it leave the shop?0 -
My elixirs got stuck recently after sitting for a while, seemed to have to much fluid in to push the pistons back, just undid the bleed screw on the caliper (got told to use the one on the lever but that didn't work) then pushed the pistons back in, mopping up the spilt fluid. Then bled the air out and they're spot on now.0

when you say the bleed screw(s) do you mean both left+right? :?0

There should be one on each caliper and one on each lever, if they're the same as my 7s then it'll be a small torx screw for each0
