Hi,
Noob here, about to buy my boy and myself a mountain bike after he impressed me so much at Llangdegla on his BMX. I've been reading loads on here and around the web and have a good idea for my own bike but struggling to find the perfect bike for my lad. Anyway that's for another post.
cheers

Welcome. I rode the Llandegla blue with my lad - who's now 11 - a few weeks ago and he really loved it... once he'd got up the climb which he found 'uninteresting'!
As to bikes for kids, that very much depends on how old/how big they are, and as usual how much you can afford to spend. It's very hard to find a perfect bike that's also affordable. The most important things are that the bike must 'fit' and it must be 'light' - and it's worth remembering that cheap suspension is pretty poor, even for adults who have enough weight to make a spring move... so rigid is often the way to go to start with.
That said, there was a recent thread on 'first 26er'... http://www.bikeradar.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=10017&t=12929664. It's also worth looking in the Family and Kids section.Vitus Sentier VR+ (2018) GT Grade AL 105 (2016)
