As mentioned in my other thread, I've been re-examining my stable.
Been wanting to upgrade the Reed for a while now from X9 to SLX. Decided now was as good a time as any.
Still rocking the factory custom, 1-off paintjob. Other than that, she's been pretty much torn down and re-done.
Spec....
Frame: Bionicon Reed 140 air
Forks: Bionicon Double Agent 80-160mm
Bars: Easton Haven 720mm
Stem: Bionicon Twin-lock
Headset: Bionicon F.I.T
Grips: Superstar Excel Blue with Red lockrings
Brakes: Shimano SLX - 180mm
Shifters: Shimano XT - I ordered SLX with the groupset, but Merlin were out of stock, so free upgrade
Front Mech: Shimano SLX direct mount
Rear Mech: Shimano SLX Shadow+
Seat: Charge Spoon
Seat Post: 2012 Reverb MMX
Seat Post Clamp: Superstar Balance bolt - Red
Cranks: Shimano XT - Blackspire chainrings 26-38 and Hope 40t bash
Chain: KMC X10-sl
Cassette: Shimano SLX 11-36

Wheelset:

Looks nice other than the forks. Why do Bionicon use dual crowns? Even Specialized gave up with them on the Enduro.
The frame & everything else looks really nice though.Transition Patrol - viewtopic.php?f=10017&t=130702350 -
Love this thing... surprisingly light and the funky shocks/forks seemed to work well!0

They use them because they work exceptionally well and fit with the way the whole Bionicon system works. They're very light (in spite of how they may look), and are by far the easiest forks to service that I've ever owned.
Spesh gave it a try with the E150s on the old Enduros but couldn't quite figure out how to make it work properly, so went back to using off the peg forks from RS and fox. Bionicon HAVE been making it work now for 10 years. The new ones with the gravilube system and the gen2 damper cartridges are quite simply superb.
Monkey knows, he gave it a quick blast last year0 -
Fair enough, they just look like they should be heavy.Transition Patrol - viewtopic.php?f=10017&t=130702350

I know exactly what you mean, nobody believes me when I tell them it's a 28lb bike. Until they get their hands on it and see for theirselves.0
