Anybody doing this in September? Looks like a cracking route and a great price at £15.

Anybody done It before, or done Sutton Bank? 2 miles at av 25% seems like a killer, esp so early on in the 68 miles.

Yes. I done it last year, the long route. It is indeed a cracking route and definitely a bargain, especially when the likes of Wiggle are charging £35 for so so routes on non-demanding courses....

The route takes you along some of the best cycling roads the area has to offer and the climbs at White Horse and Carlton Banks are pretty challenging but well worth it. If the wind is blowing across the top of the moors then a relative flat road will feel like pedaling squares up a 15% gradient. Defo the place to not be riding solo.

The organisers and volunteers at HQ, marshaling and the feed stations (well stocked) were friendly and helpful. On site parking was tight, so I'll be arriving a little earlier this year.

There was a few 'issues' with signage but hopefully these will be addressed this year. It wasn't a problem for people with local knowledge but a bloke I spoke to from Sunderland did miss a sign but managed to get back on course without too much of a drama.

I'm traveling 175 miles to stay with my folks and ride it with my Brother, so IMO it's well worth it.

I will be, really enjoyed it last year. My only gripe from last year was the 2 feed stations were quite far apart and the signage wasn't always great, cracking route though, and hopefully signage will be improved. Doing Carlton Bank virtually straight away is a real leg killer, particuarly for me last year when I was running completely inappropriate gearing! I think theres a Wiggle event on in Hexham the day after so I hope the popularity won't suffer.
  • I'm hoping to do it this year again. Did the long one last year and really enjoyed it.

Some other guys rode it too, their ride reports are here, could be worth a read for you.

I've just read the rider notes for the event and it would appear that the parking issue from last year should be addressed. Note that car parking is now at Stokesley School, just off Station Road and *NOT* at the leisure centre.
