Hello everyone first post :D

I have been looking to buy a new bike and after much reading and suggestions on another forum I know my £150+ little extra will not go far for a good bike.
So staying away from places like argos, I have 3 options ( not including used/ebay) for a bike for road and a bit off road paths.

This what I have so far.

Any help & advice would be very gratefully accepted.

Thank you.

  • well i would say if you have £175 to spend look on ebay, the reason i say this is you will get a much better bike for your money & i had a rockrider 5.1 and the bike was ok for my first bike but a bit heavy, and when the bike failed after owning it for only a few months decathlon wouldn't do anything. so have a look around on ebay in your area just make sure you get the right size or if its local go and have a look at it.

    Thank for the reply :)

I thought you get a good warranty with decathlon and the custom service was good ?
I am always looking on ebay and I have seen this one http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Peugeot-Festi ... 19e0cc859d

It's a road bike but I would rather have that then a mountain bike if I can get a cheap one.

    Thank you.

What do you want the bike for, this is an MTB forum!
Currently riding a Whyte T130C, X0 drivetrain, Magura Trail brakes converted to mixed wheel size (homebuilt wheels) with 140mm Fox 34 Rhythm and RP23 suspension. 12.2Kg.

Yeah sorry I am sort torn between a new MTB or used road bike and trying sort out my options and having hard time doing so.

If I buy new then it would be a MTB so looking for information about the bike in links.
And if I buy used I would be looking out for a road bike as that would be my main use for the bike.

I have posted on the road section as well now so if anyone has information/advice on the MTB I have linked above I would be very gratefully and sorry for any confusion.

Also today I have seen a few bikes in my local shop, not sure if they are any good.

If you're going to use it on the road then get a road bike. Plenty of second hand Carrera TDFs and Decathlon Tribans around for near your budget.

Thanks and I agree a road bike would be better if I can get one at the right price.

    Cheers.
