Hi i have a giant trance x currently its running a rockshox reba fork the travel is 120mm , i have a set of 140mm marzocchi 44's spare is it worth swapping them out? the marzocchi's are a touch heavier at around 2kg just wondering weather the weight penalty will be worth suffering on the trails can anyone help?

I fitted a 140mm fork to my old Trance. Its a fairly common mod and the higher spec models come with a 140mm fork.
It works really well for aggressive riding. Improves stability and makes big hits easier to handle.
It does climb better with the 120mm fork, the front lifts a bit easily on steep climbs.
I would only do the swap if the new fork is better damped than the old one.

    Second that, I run a 140mm on my 2010 Trance X.

  • cheers people i will have to consider it, i like the marzocchi 44's but they are heavier than my reba's by a good half a kg, would have to consider losing the weight off the bike in other area's. the trance x rides nice but never seems to excite even at speed in its present incarnation, although i have to admit its a very capable machine.
