Storing bikes

Is there any recommended way to store bikes. Is leaning against a garage wall fine or is something more fancy required?
About to spend 750 on first bike and want to do the right thing

Leaning against a garage wall is fine. If you're worried about scratching the saddle/bar tape screw a bit of wood to the wall and staple an off-cut of carpet to the wall.
If you want to use up less floor space try a wall hanger and hang it from the wheel

Or a bike stand, Aldi do some on special every so often or something like this from Halfords

But make sure that your garage is secure. Either secure the door

Or secure the bike in the garage

Thanks for the effort Gizmodo.
I'll get a chain lock and thingy to screw into the garage floor I guess

If you store the bike at an angle to the wall, it is possible to get it to stand with only the rear wheel touching the wall.
You can also get stands from most online stores which grip the wheel.0 -
Screw some of these into the ceiling joists if you can. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/STORAGE-HOOK- ... 09488616040

We lean ours against the dining room walls!!! Using tea towels to stop marks on the walls...my attempt at keeping the paintwork nice! We currently have four bikes in there...obviously it appears I have only one of those and the rest have been acquired by my husband...not fair!!!0

I'm with astrazan on this one, as I have three bikes hanging seperately from joists in the garage which is linked to the house alarm.0
