New Wheels - Advice needed

Hi

I am looking at getting a new set of wheels to replace my worn out Shimano clinchers. I was looking at Fulcrum 5's as these tick all the boxes of what I was after for the price (£200 max). I am by no means a weight weenie but the lighter the better. I do a lot of hills so aero is not as important to me as weight. Is there anything else out there that may have escaped my attention that would be better for the money?

TIA

Brand new set of Fulcrum 5's on offer in the classifieds at £150. Seller wants collection only but I'm sure he could be persuaded to ship

Thanks, but I was after advice on alternatives. I can get rrand new wheels from a shop for not much more than what is on offer so its not a case of saving money on what I already have my eye on.

Planet X AL30 Model B's or C's for higher spoke count, approx 1650gm without skewers, £150, been running mine for a year now with no problems very good vfm.

you have not given your weight or intended use. For a £200 budget you are limited to pre built wheels which to be honest are very similar to each other. the offerings from shimano campag or fulcrum will be more relible than planet x wheel which will be built quickly - they have to be for that price.

    Hi

Thanks for replies. I am 11 stone so weight is not an issue. I just want them for training. hence why I am not looking at too expensive. I appreciate the opinion that at this price most wheels around are pretty much the same, but I am sure some are still better than others within the price. I have read on here some problems with Mavic wheels. I have never really seen them so I have no idea if this is true.

Well I have an askium front in which has lost tension, I have seen it before and I will see it again. However the problem rate may well be low as most wheels are not used to there design limits and Mavic sell so many that problem wheels will always occur. Planet X also build some of there wheels. Factory wheels and handbuilt to a greater or lesser extent. I use Factory to differientiate those made in high volume from those done in shop.

At this price go with the best deal. Miche Reflex or Miche Race are alot less than £200 and are very relaible, not light but reliable. That what I would go for.
