Hi guys my 6700 rear dérailleur is sticking badly the whole way up and down the block. It barely springs back when turned by hand and it rarely shifts up and down it tends to stick one cog behind.
Is there a way of freeing it up or is it bin time! I slackened off the hanger bolt and put a bit of penetrating oil down also liberally coated with gt85 to no avail.
All advice appreciated!

I had the same issue- tried to dismantle but the bolt rounded off in place. So Mine was replaced. Old one lasted app 3 years of yar round all weather riding. .0

Remove the rear mech and give it a good clean with degreaser and toothbrush - particularly inside the parallelogram to remove any build-up of dirt. Check / lube / replace the cables too.Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..0

+1 for what Monty Dog said. I had similar symptoms to the OP and this course of action cured it for me, combination of a gunked up rear derailleur and a cable that had started to fray in the shifter.0

Thanks guys will give it a go, nothing to loose I guess as it's pretty useless at the minute!0

Undo the cable clamp on the rear mech and see if ity still sticks - that'll let you know if it's the mech sticking or the cable.
I had a sticky rear mech on my mountain bike - spent a happy afternoon taking it off, scrubbing it until it shone, soaking it in various degreasers and oils then refitting only to discover the cause of the problem was a frayed cable in the shifter body.
Still, it looked really shiny for a day or two.0 -
yeh its the mech all right, where it pivots on the hanger is stuck pretty hard! I've sprayed lubricant down it to no avail, will take the thing off for a good scrub0
