Turns out I have massive feet

...or thats what the cycling community is making me feel like anyway!
So I begrudgingly got a mans bike - I'm 6ft, with long legs - in most aspects of my life this is a positive, when it comes to cycling I am made to feel like a freak. It's ok though, the industry seems to be waking up to the idea of female riders and slowly increasing the amount of female specific kit they stock, so I am optimistic that one day I will no longer have to shop in the mens section of the store.
The issue I am currently having is with getting some proper road shoes. I wear a size 7uk normally and 8uk in trainers, so I figured 42 would be fine but with cycle shoes it seems like I need a 43 or 44 though as my toes otherwise touch the end. Ok no issue I thought - however there are no shoes above a 42 for women! I've tried mens ones but they are too wide, i've tried supposedly unisex ones but they are too wide also. The only pair I have found which I am ordering in to try are Louis Garneau ones from Evans. Cycle surgery, Halfords etc - none of them stock womens shoes over a 42.
Is there anyone else out there with "ginormous" feet? Or is it really only me? If so has anyone found any other brands that make bigger ones?

Try Shimano mens shoes they are known to be very small with their sizing and also feel narrower IMO, I need to get a size bigger than normal with their shoes. Why not nip into Decathlon and try some on then search out best price on t'internet.

"Italian" brands are meant to be smaller. Eg- Sidi shoes, although expensive tend to come up narrow apparently.0

Or if you go for some of their other shoes, they are avaliable in different widths.0 -
Hav a look at Mavic shoes, they are based on the old Adidas models and they were v. narrow.
the womens ones fit my daughter who has extremely narrow feet and the mens being in white look almost femine0 -
Hey! I'm also 6 foot and normally wear size 8 (41) shoes. Same problem as you - when I tried on the shoes I had to keep going up and up in size, but then my feet are narrow, so you start to have issues about them floating around. One chap in a bike shop I went to recommended to buy a shoe with an ankle strap as these will stop shoes from floating around.
I just bought the Shimano RT - 82 touring shoes (http://www.bike-discount.de/en/buy/shim ... -shoe-8333) in a size 45 (?!) online - was terrified they'd be enormous but so far they seem like a pretty good fit. You can pull both the velcro and the ankle strap pretty tight.
Being black also means that (at least in my mind) they look a bit smaller so I feel less like a clown0 -
I had the same issue, had my eye on a lovely pair of Specialised, ladies weren't big enough, mens were too wide. However I found Bontrager mens a narrower fit.0

For anyone else feeling frustrated with lack of choice there are actually quite a few models of larger womens cycling shoes - Northwave do loads of their womens shoes larger, as well as Shimano, Fizik and technincally Sidi (although their 43s are really 7.5s)
If you're looking for Womens 43s or 44s just enter your shoe size here and see whats out there currently0 -
I also have big wide feet. Size 8. I went for specialised expert road shoes. Bit pricey, but comfy and don't make me look like I'm wearing boats! I do occasionally kick the pannier though!!!0
