Help me find some handlebars please

Hi everyone,

I'm wanting to upgrade my handlebars (and stem possibly) to carbon. The alloy bars I have at the minute are white and I'd like to keep this colour scheme. The only problem is all white carbon bars seem to have quite a bit of red on them, and this just won't do as my bike is black white and blue.

I like the look of the PRO Evo bars with the integrated stem, though I'm not sure about going that direction. Does anyone use an all in one setup? What are the advantages/disadvantages?

Also, there is lots of choice on eBay but I am a little dubious about buying from Taiwan.

I would question the logic of calling it an 'upgrade', tbh...

I'm trying to eliminate the road vibrations from the poor surface around where I live, it can get really uncomfortable on my hands.

If it stops him from wasting his money on stuff which will make no discernible difference to his riding, then why not? On that basis, your comment was considerably less helpful than mine.

If - on the other hand - he just wants carbon bars and stem because they are carbon, then carry on.

Look at your tyre choice and pressures first, then.

I have been reading advice on here for a good two years now and I haven't really come across anyone eschewing the value of carbon bars or integrated stems. I think you would be far better looking at new tape, possibly with the gel under pads kit like Fizik do. Obviously a decent pair of mitts can compliment this and as others have suggested 25mm tyres at c90psi my also help. Apparently a lot of the pro's use alloy bars still.

The reason that pros use alloy is that that when they crash they can easily identify a problem...

I do have good quality gloves with gel pads, my tyres are currently 23mm at 100 psi. Will changing tyres to 25mm make that much difference, 2mm extra doesn't sound a lot.

Also a review from Bikeradar on the Axe Edge, (which is the same frame as mine so I've been told) mentioned the same problem and suggested carbon bars would cure it.

This came to mind as one of my first mountain bikes had this fitted

The roads down to Richmond Via Melsomby are very smooth and flat so maybe a change of route for your rides would help.
