How many speed links before getting a new chain?

Hi, Just broke my chain out on a ride and put in a speed link - no problem, really good ride. This is the second speed link in the chain (Shimano HG93 - 9 speed) and I was wondering if there is a limit to the number of speed links you can use before you need to buy a new chain.

You could theoretically make an entire chain out of Powerlinks (well 50% - you know what I mean!). Personally once a chain's snapped I replace it, tends to keep breaking after that IME.

Depends on the failure mode.....certainly worth checking the growth using a checker.
Currently riding a Whyte T130C, X0 drivetrain, Magura Trail brakes converted to mixed wheel size (homebuilt wheels) with 140mm Fox 34 Rhythm and RP23 suspension. 12.2Kg.
