New rear hub/wheel spinning issue

When lifting up the back end of the bike with the seat & then spinning the back wheel pretty quick there is an on/off wobble type of thing happening instead of the wheel spinning around smooth as it should whilst coasting. Ive had it all apart and it seems fine so ive put it down to the 4 new bearings just need to loosen up a bit? The rim is perfectly true.

Its a Novatec F472SB

cheers

If you are after an answer as to why the wheel is 'wobbling', then IME it is probably due to the valve causing a slight imbalance which is amplified at higher rotational speed and that you are holding it up by your hand, which also does well at amplifying this effect.

There is no issue - get out and ride.

Pretty sure i can feel it going downhill & ive never had a wheel do this before thats all. Its like an on/off bit of resistance as it spins. I cant see how just the valve could be causing it tbh but yeah i'll be riding it & will see how it goes

It's an imbalance... if you want you can start sticking weights around the spokes until the wheel is balanced or you can just forget about it and ride your bike... the net result is the same

Just been reading up on this and you are right. The back wheel is out of balance and the 'hop' is pretty strong

Its a 38mm rim with a 60mm valve. The front does the same but only slightly. I'll see how it is again next time out
