Gearing for the Beallach na Ba

I've just posted in the beginner forum, but wonder if this is a better place (I'm new to Bike radar)
I've just ridden the Beallach na Ba on a 50-39 12-27 gear ratio and my cadence was VERY slow on the steepest sections but i JUST kept going. Would switching to a 11-28 not just make it easier but ALSO make me climb faster?
Many thanks for your help...

Apologies 53-39 front chainring size...
My original question isn't that clear... Does switching to 28t on easiest cog slow me even if my cadence is higher or will it allow me to travel faster because my cadence allows me to deliver more consistent power?0 -
Your ability to push a gear at a certain cadence relates to your fitness level, nothing more. Other than that, gearing is a personal choice and it's not really a question that anyone else can answer anyway.0
