Hi
I'm going to build a bike and am undecided on the frame so far but it will be either 26" or 650b. Likely 650b. And 140-160mm travel
I'm decided on Rockshox pikes and a shimano SLX/XT setup
I was wondering about wheels
They would have to be about £300 for the set £335 max
I can get Hope pro 2 evos with stans arch ex, any other suggestions?
Thanks

If you don't know if you're going 26 or 650b, how are we supposed to give you recommendations on wheelsets?
For that budget, I'd probably go for a custom build from superstar. You can get some pedals while you're there.0 -
Sorry, I only just realised my mistake there
I'm gonna work on the basis it's 650b
I looked on superstar and they seem really good so I will defiantly consider them
Would the 650b ZTR Arch EX be strong enough for trails and occasional black DH run? I can't get a factory build with Flow EX rims0 -
Arch will cope with that just fine....Currently riding a Whyte T130C, X0 drivetrain, Magura Trail brakes converted to mixed wheel size (homebuilt wheels) with 140mm Fox 34 Rhythm and RP23 suspension. 12.2Kg.0

That's good to know..
I can get some Nukeproof generators as well at that price0 -
Nukeproof generator pedals are the same as Superstar. Go for whichever is cheaperTransition Patrol - viewtopic.php?f=10017&t=130702350

Oh right ok haha
My options are
Hope Hoops Stans Arch EX
Superstar build with Stans Flow
Nukeproof Generator
Any others to consider?0 -
Yes, I was confused. Sorry.
Dont buy Nukeproof wheels, the hubs are ok but the rims are very soft and heavy.Transition Patrol - viewtopic.php?f=10017&t=130702350 -

Why not a superstar build with Arch EX?
It's what I'd go for. And did go for. Twice.0 -

I thought the flows would be stiffer/stronger
But if the Arch EX will hold out fine then I'll go for that
I will hit black runs and have some rough landings from time to time and I weigh 13 stone0 -
They are a less fashionable choice but I really like Mavic XM719 rims. Light and strong im heavier than you and ride quite hard and they have lasted me longer than any other rims I have tried including much more expensive DT Swiss rims. Not tubeless ready but really easy to get set up tubeless.Transition Patrol - viewtopic.php?f=10017&t=130702350

I've not really looked at any Mavic rims but I probably should
I also use tubes, I never get pinch flats it's normally only thorns0
