Are the forks rigid or suspension? (the collar half way up has thrown me)
I'm thinking of getting some rigid carbons for my commuter bike so I'd be interested to hear how you find them.0 -
They are rigid forks (http://www.carboncycles.cc/?p=1057&), the collar is actually a V brake mount for future expansion if required, here is a shot from front:

What age frame is that? Looks mid to late 90's? Looking nice.Currently riding a Whyte T130C, X0 drivetrain, Magura Trail brakes converted to mixed wheel size (homebuilt wheels) with 140mm Fox 34 Rhythm and RP23 suspension. 12.2Kg.0

Its got no V brake posts so must be later than that unless they have been removed.Fig rolls: proof that god loves cyclists and that she wants us to do another lap0 -

That is gorgeous!!! I bet you turn a few heads riding that around town. Im not a fan of green but that green is really nice.
I agree with Rockmonkey. The older GTs were/are better looking than the new ones.0 -

Love this!
Between your bike pics, an enforced weekend off the bike, and the need to be away from people all day on Saturday, you've sparked me to get my old GT ('96ish!) rebuilt as a SS. Forks, old RST MOZO's stripped, greased & re-built, V-Brakes serviced, it's like a bicycle time machine. just waiting for a delivery of 18T freewheel, chain, bars & grips and i'm good to go.
Pics to follow.....like it's golden0 -

In commuter mode:
I want to get full length mudguards on this.
I cant find ANY full length guards that will fit it; eventually I might have to DIY them.
The constraints are, no guard mounts (front or back), no brake bridge, no fork brace.
Any suggestions out there?0 -
You can get front mudguards that plug into the steerer tube. I have one its made by SKS keeps a lot of crud off your face but your feet catch it. Rear mudguards that clamp to seat stays with P clips can be found I think SKS do one.Fig rolls: proof that god loves cyclists and that she wants us to do another lap0
