Have to say I'm not a fan of Castelli, yes they look great but not a patch on Endura imo.
  • Which endura ones have you got? Got some old ones and the pad doesn't seem that great. Reviews of the progetto pad look pretty good that's the only reason I was looking at castelli really

Progetto x2 is one of the best pads out there to rival Assos, can't see any deals though. Saw the aero race down around 100 a while back but only in funny sizes.

Have a look at www.cervorosso.com. I've been using their shorts for the last 3 years and I've not worn shorts with a better pad.

Enter the discount code AP201312 on checkout and you will get a 15% discount.

A review of the Mk 3 is here:

I like the the Strada S3 shorts which are exactly the same cut and pad as those reviewed but without the grippy fabric on the seat panel.
  • Thanks I will take a look. Spending a lot more time on the bike at the moment so what I previously thought were decent bibs are not so comfortable after 40-50 miles so want to make sure I get decent ones.

I have both (all my club kit is Endura). Endura doesn't hold a candle to Castelli. I'm talking the Body Paint and Aero Free. Can't comment as to cheap Castelli though.

  • Wiggle have the free aero team for £97 so may go for them as can't see anything cheaper for that level of quality

I use Castelli Aero Free's and love em to bits. The Cervo's do look nice (if trying a bit hard to look like Castelli IMO), but not sure if it's worth risking 100 quid on finding out if they're better than the Castelli's or not?

I last bought castelli shorts about 20 years ago so I can't comment on their current range but the pad in the cervo rosso shorts, IMO, is better than Assos.
  • The cervos do look pretty good. Agree though that the worry is dropping £100 on something with very little knowledge of the quality. Worth pondering though. Assos are just too much I can't justify it and I doubt they are that much better, if at all.
  • I just got a free pair of Body Paints from PBK. I hope they live up to the hype!:)
  • castelli are the best ive tried (free race aero), but am sorely tempted in getting some cervo rosso kit. especially now with that discount code.

the one qualm i have with castelli (and i assume cervo rosso) is that they dont offer a repair service, and for the cost i think they should, as they are pretty much on par with rapha and assos that do.

I mostly use the Endura Equipe and the Catelli Race Aero with the progreto 2 pad. Bot are excellent and both are fine for 100 mile+ rides. The castelli pad is slimmer and I prefer them for 50 mile rides over the endura at 100 mile there really is no difference - though funnily I have found the Castelli a little more durable - would buy both again

Re above just google - I get mine for about £95 a pair

Just got some castelli shorts from here http://www.sigmasport.co.uk/clothing/sh ... BkZXNjfn4=

    Cheapest place i could find.
  • Could try the guys at Castelli Cafe: http://www.castellicafe.co.uk/clearance ... bib-shorts

For some deals on end of line stock they have the Zipp Free Aero Team Bibshort for £87.50 in select sizes.
  • Anyone got any experience of buying from castelli cafe? Seem like decent prices. Though I'd probably have to get the felt branded ones for my size
  • Castelli Cafe are decent guys, never had an issue with any orders with them.

Anyone got any ideas with what to do with the nice pocket on the team shorts ? I've sadly no radio mike to put in there.

Was looking for some new shorts, question is do I save £30 on the Zipp team shorts for the sake of having 'Speed Weaponry' written on my leg?

    Slight asside, but ....
anyone know where the FB's get their clothing?
ASSOS are the only ones which even hint at being big enough with their TIR but I don't like ordering loads of stuff to test and send it all back :( I guess it's the only way ...
most shops (with Collect Plus) don't have much in the way of TIR anyway, a Blimp my size in White Fi.Mille dosen't bear thinking about..

My free aeros are going to go back. They go grey when stretched even slightly and it's not a good look at the front. XL should fit a 32" waist I'd have thought.
