Front dérailleur help

So I was doing some basic front mech (Shimano Sora for triple ring) adjustments, and I wanted it to be mounted a little (like 0.5mm lower). All went well, until I tightened the bolt, applied to much torque apparently, and; well you know...

So I can't tighten it anymore. The thread on the bolt seems fine really, so I'm afraid I busted it internally. In fact, there appears to be a piece of spring sticking out (see photos).

Yes, I WILL take it to my LBS. Already made the phone call. He's available to have a look two weeks from today. Two. Weeks. 2.

Basically I was wondering if anyone could advise me a quick and dirty fixing method without destroying the thing even more, so I can still go on rides before I bring it in. Thanks a lot in advance.

With stripped threads I doubt it'll be salvageable. Lower spec front mechs are pretty dirt cheap, just get a new one.

As above - a new one is cheap enough. If you have the equipment, some JB weld and retapping of the threads might work but doubt you have that in your workshop...alternatively you could try some epoxy, wait till its almost gone hard and gently screw the bolt it - in might hold. You want the epoxy to have gone almost totally off except there is just enough give so the bolt can re-tap the threads.

    Find another LBS

    Or buy a cheap toolkit http://www.inmotionproducts.com/Bike%2D ... it-252.htm

And a new cable and front derailler

And read the http://www.parktool.com website on how to replace a cable and front derrailler

On the mean time there's always Araldite

+3 - You've buggered it. Trying to bodge it back on will take more time and possibly cost more than simply buying a new one online and fitting it yourself.

Thanks guys, that's what I thought. None of two LBS' had these in stock, so I'm ordering online. Quick n00b question though: The part number is FD-3403 (braze on triple version). Online I found FD-3503, that's interchangeable right? Shimano's techdocs doesn't seem to offer much more insight.

New Sora front mech is 15 quid. Go for it. The 3503 will work fine.
