Hi there !

Me and my friend are going for a 4 day cycling trip next week and are looking for a good location ! we are going by car. We are especially looking for places suitable for road cycling as we have road bikes, and good hills with nice scenaries if possible !

Thanks for all the suggestions :)

For hills and scenery, anywhere north or west, and ideally north-west is a good rule of thumb to follow. So, Essex: probably not. Cornwall or Aberdeenshire: good. Outer Hebrides: Fantastic.

    South, mid and north wales.

    Llanidloes is a great base.

Erm it all depends on where you live - there's no point spending two days travelling out of the four.

North Yorkshire is good, particularly around Reeth and Kirkby Stephen.

County Durham also, around Stanhope. Some nice hilly routes here... http://www.northpenninescycling.co.uk/

Sorry I forgot to say, I live in London. So indeed somewhere like lake district would be way too far...

    Thanks for the suggestions!

Perhaps you should have said 'not far from London' and not '4 days in GB'

    Wessex and/or the south-west

Both have hillsaplenty and are within easy reach of London (especially Wessex).

Classic early season day out from wareham with some cracking views.

I've a load of routes in the Wessex area, mostly longer stuff, but can be chopped up into shorter day rides.

Head down towards Southampton and stop in Brockenhurst or similar, use that as a base to do a day on the IOW, a ride along the south coast towards Weymouth, another out to Salisbury and a day around the New Forest itself.
Life isnt like a box of chocolates, its like a bag of pic n mix.
