Quick release skewer magnet

Just unpacking my Shimano RS80's this morning, and putting on the Q/R for the front wheel, there was a very small magnet attached to it, shown on the picture below attached to the skewer.

It came with a little plastic cover over the top of it.

Any idea what this is and what it's for. Sadly the instructions make no reference to it

    Aha, I think it's actually a spoke magnet. The fact that it was attached to the q/r threw me off.

    Yeah you're right it's a spoke magnet specific to the RS80 spokes.

    LOL. I'll add the the magnet is also useless! For my sensor anyway.

    Well I fitted the wheels and the magnet and it does work! At least with my Cateye wireless sensor, only tried it for half a mile outside the house and it did require very close and exact placement so we'll see if it keeps working :)
