Hi all,

I was only a mile out of the house last night when i went to change to my big cog and the gear level became loose and limp. when i pulled in and check why my worst fears were realised when it full came off in my hand. Unfortunately i had not noticed that i was already in the big ring (total amateur mistake i know) so i guess the extra tension did not help but i still didn't think this would clean snap the thing off!

I guess my question is do i just bite the bullet and purchase a new shifter or is there any way of repairing these when they go like this (pic attached)?

thanks in advance

    The RH Rival shifter is notorious for breaking... there should be loads of cheap LH ones lying around on ebay :p
  • If it's listed in here;

    http://cdn.sram.com/cdn/farfuture/_tS80 ... ev_c_0.pdf

    Then you can order it from your local Fisher supplied bike shop.
  • Thanks, unfortunately the broken bit isn't listed as a part so it's option eBay.
  • On a similar note, does anyone have a maintenance guide for Rival shifters? I need to replace the paddle and brake lever on the right hand side following a crash.

    Are you sorted yet? My right shifter gave up a couple of days ago so had new ones fitted. Got a spare good condition left shifter if you want it?
