1948 Raleigh Humber 700c
Hi All,
I have a 1948 Raleigh Humber which has been completely stripped down and re-sprayed (the original enamel was too far gone, shame because these will outlast all other finishes).
The problem I am now having is finding wheels. I have retained the original SA 3-Speed dyno hub but would like to do a 700c conversion, mainly because I think the 26 1 3/8 look too small and the choice of tires is limited (I am a big fan of Continental tubes and tires).
Could anybody point me in the direction of reasonably priced front 88mm hub, spokes and 700c rims that will suit my purpose?

The only 90 mm (or similar) hubs I have seen are on Ebay.
If you want to use a 700 C rim, you have to make sure the brakes can be adjusted to fit to the rim. Spokes need to be calculated depending on rim and hubleft the forum March 20230 -

Hi Ugo,
I have removed the original rod brakes as they were heavily corroded, I believe vintage small style calipers will fit having eyed up a 700c wheel.
Do you have any manufactures in mind for the spokes and rims?

Whatever you fancy... depends on budget. For spokes you can get Alpina ACI DB in almost all sizes for roughly 30 pence each at www.sdeals.comleft the forum March 20230 -

What about going back to original spec with new parts. You can still buy bikes with rod brakes so I expect that it isn't hard to get either the brakes or wheels though you may need to source them from Dutch suppliers. Rod brakes are rather cool as long as you live somewhere flattish!Faster than a tent.......0
