Hi, sorry if been asked before, I did use search.

Does anybody have one and can recommend it ?

I keep finding one, about to click buy and it is for a HTC ONE x or v or something not just a plain old One.

Thanks

I also got an htc one recently.

I ended up making my own holder using bits from an old bike light mount, and a milled out piece of plastic, (not waterproof), as I couldn't find a decent commercially available bike mount at a reasonable price.

There are three, I think, HTC One variants - S, V and X. All are different sizes so be careful before you buy.

Never considered mounting a phone on the bike. Too expensive to break, can't really read the detail when moving, most other GPS units are much more robust and cheaper and do more - HRM/Cadence - without buying extra kit.
  • Thanks, It is insured so no problem there. I eventually found a company specialising in mounts for all types of phones.

    UltimateAddons

    Link if anybody interested

And google to allow Bluetooth 4 in apps within the next 2 months, so my wahoo HRM will finally work on the One

  • Depends what you want a phone for TBH.

I studied all phones for 2 months and HTC One won hands down as the best new phone. 32gb as standard is nice.

I use my phone for emails, texts, FB now and again, tracking my rides and the HTC one excels in all. TBH a smartphone is a smartphone. I have saved £5 a month on my monthly bill. Iphones were unique, now they are just one of many.

So ask yourself, what size screen do you want as there is a HTC One Mini, what apps do you need and decide.

but to answer your main question, it is pretty dam good

Thanks mate, I already have the HTC Sensation XE and notice the One is even bigger than that. I have S hands so size is one thing I have to take into consideration. That said I do like HTC and its either a toss up between the One and the Blackberry Q10 although there is no strava app for BB and does not look like there will be either.

i'd avoid blackberry, the company is teatering on the edge so apps development and ongoing software support and updates could be a little sketchy.

The HTC One is regarded as the best phone out at the moment.

The only problem is new phones are getting released every 5 minutes these days!! if you use your phone for logging rides have a look at the sont xperia z, its under £400 off contract on amazon at the mo, its waterproof which might be good for wetter days in the saddle. Spec wise its pretty similar to the HTC One.

having said that, there will prob be a new nexus out soon, new galaxy note due sept 4th, New bigger HTC One is rumoured to be hitting soon, Xperia z ultra, the list is almost endless!!

sorry, i fear I may have made things more confusing for you!

Ha! I did consider the Sony Experia too, looks great but again SIZE!!! I might as well cart around my ipad the way these phones are going! Soon they wont even fit in my back pocket of my jersey!

If I need to use 2 hands to use a phone, its not a phone its a tablet imo.

I've had a HTC One S for a year now and love it. I've only got small hands too and find the size of the S just right. The new HTC One has a bigger screen, but is only a few mm larger overall. I was quite happy with the size of it and it's usefully smaller than the Xperia Z and the older HTC One X.

I've got the One S and agree with Denniskwok, it is a good size but not too big.

It is a sealed unit so no SD card slot and no access to the battery I wasn't ure about that but so far it has been OK.
  • I got an HTC One X when they came out.

    Good points - screen.
Bad points - can't replace the battery, too big for most bike mounts, speaker too quiet (I use it as a sat nav too), bit too thin, I use a case to protect it and thicken it up. Wifi antenna broke, common problem - having a battle with the insurance over it.

All I wanted was a non fudged version of my htc desire with more app space...
