Brilliant... How on earth does the guy ever see where he's going?
  • Maybe that's why he almost always stays with team-mates, as they act like co-drivers in rallying. "3 right froomy", "5 left into easy right froomy".

Maybe that's why he dropped back in the Tour de France last year after briefly pulling away from Wiggins. He'd lost his co-driver and could no longer look at his stem while pedalling without crashing, so had to wait for wiggo to catch up.

It's his breathing technique. Straightens the windpipe and at speed it's easier to breath from a slightly lower pressure region.

...and computer on his bars is actually a small phone running Eurosport Player which he uses to navigate.

Definitely brilliant!!! I was already a big fan of the ones from the Kim Jong family but this one is easily as good, a lot better than the one with Obama checking your mail.

Is that genuine or something you think?

Test it for yourself with your head out of a car window. If your head is bent back it's harder to breathe particularly if you have a long neck. Likewise if the wind is straight into your face.

Personally, I think the argument that the reason Froome spends a lot of time looking down as he is constantly looking at his SRM power data is probably not true. It is a convenient way to 'robotify' perceptions of the guy though.

I think as a personality he is as boring as they come, but it's more likely to me that it's just part of the way he naturally concentrates. When putting in effort some people like to be heads up, some people like to be heads down 'in their own bubble', you see it all the time with the way different people act when putting in effort.

Yes he could be checking data relentlessly, but he probably knows what he's putting out without continually glancing, and even if he is checking, so what. It says more about people who want to knock Sky than it does about Froome to me.

He's about as interesting as Steve Davis was in his prime IMO, but I don't agree that he is some kind of robot and think the assumption he is continually checking power data as fact is ridiculous.

Jeeze it's a guy looking at his stem there is never a time when that is worth 4 paragraphs

Do you do this whilst driving; sorry just trying to establish the experiment parameters.
