I'm going to have some time to kill in central London tomorrow as the wife and kids trudge around the shops. As I'm currently looking for a new cross bike I was hoping to find a large well stocked bike shop where I can get a good look at sub £1k cross bikes and as this is probably the most London biased bit of the forum I was hoping you could provide some recommendations please? I'm thinking of looking at the big Evans which I know is in the West End but is there anywhere else worth looking? Thanks in advance.

Evans and Cycle Surgery in central London (various locations). Condor is good (Gray's Inn Road) but only have their own brand bikes, not sure you'd get a sub £1k cross bike. Specialized concept store in Covent Garden. Sigma Sport in Kingston, Geoffrey Butler in Croydon, Decathlon at Surrey Quays all options if you have chance to travel a bit further out.

On your bike by London Bridge is a pretty big shop but I see they have relocated across the road and I haven't been in the new shop

It's smaller than before and less choice from what I can see. Still my go-to shop when I do a spoke (occupational hazard for the larger cyclist) as they can always fit you in same day.

Thanks all going to the Evans in Mortimer Street shortly as the wife and kids are roaming Oxford Street. Might have a nose in the Spesh concept store later as no doubt I'll get dragged to Covent Garden but I'm not a big fan of Spesh bikes. I'd like a look around Condor if I get a chance, can't beat a nice steel bike. Ideally I'll get to LMNH and catch the Eneco for a bit but doubt I'll be allowed!
