Looking for something to train towards this summer? Join our Tour de France inspired sportive- a challenging route taking in highlights of the 2014 Tour de France Route. All proceeds will go to Wakefield Hospice.

Saturday 21st September 2013 starting from 8am at Nuffield Health, Calder Island Way, Wakefield, West Yorkshire WF2 7AW
Please support our first ever hospice sportive - A 72 mile road cycling challenge ride taking in the highlights of the 2014 Tour De France Route.
We have 3 challenging routes:
•Extreme Route: £25- 72 miles
•Hard Route: £20- 48 miles
•Moderate Route: £15- 23 miles
For the 72 and 45 mile route we will provide you with chip timing. All routes will be have support vehicles and food stations and clearly marked signs. You can request chip timing at an additional cost for the 23 mile route.
The route will start in Wakefield and cover the Dark Peak area of the Peak District, the basic route outline:
• Holmfirth
• Holme Moss
• Glossop
• Snake Pass
• Strines
• Penistone
• Wakefield

Fortunately the weather seems to be picking up a bit for this weekend. I was getting a bit worried watching the tour of Britain!0

Found that a tough old ride, legs were hurting a bit at Snake Inn but rallied after a while and finished a bit over 6 hours. Didn't see too many other mtb's - but our extra gears came in handy (for me) on the steeper hills (Strines). Great route and well organised/signed.0
